Amazon donates unsold products instead of destroying them

Amazon donates unsold products instead of destroying them ( FBA Donations) the new program , in the United States and the United Kingdom to donate unwanted products from its external platform suppliers instead of sending them to the landfill.

Amazon wants its sellers to make better use of their unsold or unwanted products, which are often thrown away by giving them charities.

The donation slot machine was designed for third-party vendors who store their products in Amazon warehouses in the United States and the United Kingdom.

The program donates hundreds of thousands of products that suppliers have not been able to sell to non-profit organizations in the United States and charities in the United Kingdom.

As of September 1, the donation program is supposed to be the default option for all suppliers when they choose to dispose of their unsold or unwanted products stored in Amazon warehouses across these two countries, and sellers can opt-out of the program if they wish.

Through the new donation program, Amazon aims to reduce the number of stored products that need to be unloaded from Amazon warehouses , help the environment, and otherwise use wasted products.

Amazon reportedly destroyed more than 3 million products in France last year.

Since the company makes most of its sales in the United States, the amount of product destroyed in its U.S. warehouses is likely to be much higher than in other countries .

« This program will reduce the number of products sent to landfills and instead help people in need, » Amazon wrote in an email to suppliers announcing the launch of the program.

Amazon Sellers said : the new program makes it cheaper for them to donate unwanted products, as Amazon charges 50 cents to return unsold inventory to sellers, much more than the 15 cents it charges for disposing of the products.
